This page lists everything the site writes to your device, why it does so and how to change your mind. Before you consent, no measurement or marketing tool is loaded at all: the page you are reading runs on technical cookies alone.
01What they are
Cookies are small files a website saves on a visitor’s device. Alongside them, browsers offer other storage areas such as localStorage: the substance is the same, which is why we treat them the same way.
Technical cookies are the ones without which the site would not work as you expect, and the law does not require consent for them. Everything else requires an informed choice from you, which you can give or refuse here with no effect on your browsing.
02What we use
| Name | Set by | Type | Lifetime | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| up-theme | upholding.it | Local storage | Until the browser is cleared | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. |
| up-consent | upholding.it | Cookie | 6 months | Stores the choice you made on the cookie banner. |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Ireland Ltd. | Cookie | Up to 2 years | Google Analytics 4: aggregate page-view statistics with anonymised IP. |
| _clck, _clsk | Microsoft Ireland | Cookie | Up to 1 year | Microsoft Clarity: heatmaps and aggregate sessions, where enabled. |
| _fbp | Meta Platforms Ireland | Cookie | Up to 3 months | Meta Pixel: campaign measurement. Loaded only with marketing consent. |
| li_sugr, UserMatchHistory | LinkedIn Ireland | Cookie | Up to 6 months | LinkedIn Insight Tag: campaign measurement. Loaded only with marketing consent. |
Measurement and marketing tools appear in the table because the site is wired for them, but they stay dormant until you allow them: without consent their code is never even downloaded.
03Technical cookies
They remember the theme you picked and the decision you made on the banner. We write them ourselves, they never leave the site and they cannot identify you.
04Measurement cookies
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 with anonymised IP addresses and advertising features switched off, to understand which pages are useful and which are not. The data is aggregate: it tells us how many people visited a page, not who.
05Marketing cookies
They measure how advertising campaigns perform on third-party channels. They are the most intrusive category, which is why they stay off by default: leave them off and the scripts are never loaded.
06Changing your mind
You can revisit your choice at any time with the button below: the new decision replaces the previous one, and if you withdraw a consent we reload the page so that measurement really does stop.
You can also delete or block cookies from your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking technical cookies too may stop parts of the site from working.
